I met the best community of people through CrossFit that support each other at the gym and outside of it.

My CrossFit journey started in early 2013 when I was searching for a new sports program. As a teenager, I was used to having dance training every day for 3 hours and I spent the weekends hiking and cycling with my parents. But when I started studying at the university and my fitness suffered. One day, in the pursuit of my lost “shape”, I found myself at a CrossFit gym.

During the first classes I thought I was going to die after the WARM UP! Many things have changed in my life ever since. My career path took a 180-degree turn from marketing specialist to a full-time CrossFit coach and gym owner. I obtained the CrossFit Level 1, Level 2 as well as the CrossFit Kids certification. I hold the Czech Fitness Trainer and the Czech Weightlifting Trainer license and I have taken part in various Czech and International seminars and projects.

Why CrossFit? Because it gives me so much more than fitness. I met the best community of people through CrossFit that support each other at the gym and outside of it. I love helping people to find their better selves through CrossFit, to have a deeper understanding of their body and fitness and to feel stronger and healthier day by day.

It’s not just a way to get in shape, it’s a way of life!

My sports life turned upside down in the Summer of 2017 when I first came across the CrossFit Games live stream. I couldn’t believe how it was possible to run fast, lift heavy things, walk on hands and be able to do so many movements at the same time. Those athletes looked like superheroes to me, I was simply starstruck. Ever since that day I have known that this is what I want to do. Be the superhero version of myself. I have always been very active and competitive.

At school I enjoyed obstacle courses and gymnastics. Later on I played college level volleyball and golf. After several problems and injuries, I decided to quit the sport and during my university studies I was focusing solely on working out and getting stronger. However I was still missing 'that something' at commercial gyms.

Why CrossFit? Because it’s not just a way to get in shape, it’s a way of life! It’s not only going to give you the best body and fitness, it will also give you some of the best friends you will ever have! That is why I love coaching, because I get to be part of this. Athletes getting faster, stronger, healthier and happier is the ultimate satisfaction for me. This is why I believe in CrossFit.

CrossFit is in my eyes amazing because you can go to almost any other city in the world and work out there and meet people with same addiction.

My CrossFit journey started when I came to study in Prague in 2013. I remember coming to the gym just to check it out and I saw people sweating and doing burpees and I said to myself: “I will never do this!”. Then I came to a try-out class, still nothing serious and after that, I was just OK with trying CrossFit for maximum one month, but not more. After a month, I stayed a month longer and now here I am!

I started to focus more on weightlifting in 2015 and in 2017 I qualified for the National Weightlifting Championship and placed 4th (in the under 23 category). Since then, I have been actively participating in weightlifting competitions in the Czech Republic. My first baby steps in coaching were in 2016 as an assistant coach. At the end of 2019, I obtained the CrossFit Level 1 certification and also took part in physiotherapy and nutrition seminars in the Czech Republic.

In my eyes, CrossFit is amazing not just because you meet an interesting variety of people in the gym, but you can go to almost any other city in the world and work out there and meet people with the same addiction. My passion for training grew with time and CrossFit definitely changed my mindset and my whole life.

At CrossFit, you will meet great people, laugh, have a good coffee, sweat a T-shirt (maybe even shorts) and do something good for your body.

My CrossFit journey started in the fall of 2018. After a rich experience in team sports that accompanied me from an early age, I started playing golf. When I was little, I didn't like physical activity too much, so it was ideal. As I grew up and played golf for quite some time, I started to have an urge to do something more physically demanding and wanted to blow some steam off.

One day my cousin told me about CrossFit and like most athletes in this sport, wouldn’t stop talking about it. I especially liked the variety of movements that the athlete controls. He can run, jump, row, but also do gymnastics and weightlifting, all at high intensity. The complexity of this sport seemed unique to me.

It didn’t take long until I was looking for a CrossFit gym. The closest one was CF South where I booked an intro class and that’s how I met Zuzka Kučerová. After completing an on-ramp course I started training 2 times a week, shortly after it was 4 times a week, and not so long later I had to buy an unlimited membership since I was there almost every day.

After about 3 years of CrossFit, the community of people and the philosophy of this sport fascinated me in such a way that I decided I wanted to be a coach. From the very beginning, I have been working out here in South, so the choice of location was clear. I currently train both group lessons and a smaller number of individual lessons as well as CrossFit Kids. I constantly strive for new knowledge which I try to apply directly on me or our athletes during the classes. I really enjoy moving our clients towards better perfomance and health. Come and give it a go! The first visit is on us.

The community. It's what keeps me coming back day after day. Whether we're sweating through a brutal WOD or celebrating someone's first pull-up...

I grew up in France, splashing in pools and pedaling bikes. Fitness was in my blood. Then came the teenage years, and I traded the water for the clang of iron. I was a shy kid and bodybuilding gave me confidence. I enjoyed training with hard-working men of my town. Watching Arnold's movies and reading his books. All of this has been part of the journey.

I have entered CrossFit, thanks to a couple of buddies who got tired of the same old gym routine. We craved something functional, something that pushed us in new ways.

When I moved to Prague, I was alone in a new city. CrossFit became my anchor, my way to meet new people and stay sane in a foreign land. I joined a local box, and suddenly, I had a whole new crew of friends.

In 2018, when our gym started taking shape, I found myself stepping up as a coach. It wasn't planned; it just felt right. Coaching wasn't about fancy techniques or complicated workouts. It was about sharing my passion and helping others get better.

But the best part? The community. It's what keeps me coming back day after day. Whether we're sweating through a brutal WOD or celebrating someone's first pull-up, there's this incredible bond that forms in the box. We're not just working out; we're growing together.

So yeah, CrossFit changed my life. Not because of the workouts or the competitions, but because of the people. And as a coach, I get to be a part of that every single day. It's pretty damn awesome.

You have to work hard, every training means liters of sweat, but as a reward get a huge dose of endorphins.

For me, CrossFit means a clear head and time exclusively for myself. As a mother of two children, I need some place to rest and physical training is my oasis.

It wasn't like that from the beginning, it took me quite a few weeks before I decided to come to the gym. I was 41 and felt a little crazy to start something new. I felt that something more than the usual "stepping out of the comfort zone" would be needed. And I wasn't mistaken. You have to work hard, every training means liters of sweat, but as a reward get a huge dose of endorphins. The bonus is a group of like-minded people who support each other and celebrate their achievements, whether it's a new personal best or "just" a well-executed push-up.

After three years, I passed the trainer course and became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer. I started coaching the unique CrossFit Light lesson that we offer at our gym. I think it's a brilliant concept. It is intended for beginners and is built in such way that everyone who wants to try can handle the moderate intensity. Because CrossFit IS FOR EVERYONE, not just for people who are already in shape. This is the biggest myth about CrossFit. My personal goal to contribute to bust this myth.

Simply, CrossFit can be started at any time, at any age, and is an absolutely ideal investment in your own body and health. So don't hesitate and come to us, the first lesson is free.

A fistbump with the rest of the class is just a cherry on top and affirmation that I’m not alone in this.

I got into CrossFit by chance. I wanted to have a good part-time job during my university studies. I applied for and completed a course for fitness instructors and for a short period of time, I was training people at the classic globo gym. Something was missing, though. Luckily, the gym owner jumped into testing out CrossFit on his trainers and other keen members. I still remember my first workout in the summer of 2012 when we were running outside the gym with sandbags on the back, people looking at us all weird.

I have been in and out of CrossFit since then, but I always found my way back. I often think about why I do it, especially when I’m laying on the floor in a pool of sweat after 90 burpees. It’s definitely the triumphal feeling after the workout. I am happy that I finished and did something good for myself. A fistbump with the rest of the class is just a cherry on the cake and a confirmation that I’m not alone.

I love coaching at South because it helps me, and I believe also our members, to become better people. We are continuously pushing ourselves out of the comfort zone, we learn together, get filled up with positive energy and those 60 minutes in class, we don’t have to think about anything else.

Enjoy yourself, have a good time. Be better than you were yesterday.

My first Crossfit experience goes back to 2017 during my PhD study in New Zealand. I was searching for some ways how to improve my strength, power, speed and agility skills for rugby that I used to play at that time. Back in the Czech Republic I used to train with a team of obstacle-race athletes, whose training consisted of running drills and skills combined with some weightlifting exercises. I enjoyed a variety of training sessions and thus, it was almost inevitable that my next steps followed
the route into a Crossfit box. Once I entered, my perception of traditional fitness immediately turned upside down, and a Crossfit training became my morning routine. However, a variety of sessions was not my primary motivation. It was the atmosphere, vibe, humility, friendship, and mostly a feeling of togetherness that is unique for every Crossfit gym. Since then, day by day, we have come together, we have worked hard together, we have fought together, we have won together to leave as stronger, fitter, more optimistic, happier, better people.

Crossfit fascinated me so much that in 2018 I assisted other coaches mostly with Crossfit kids' trainings, I became a certificated Crossfit Level 1 trainer that same year, and started coaching group classes as well as individual trainings. Since then I have completed several courses focused on the healthy diet and nutrition for athletes, client-specific programming and training plans, rehabilitation, regeneration, and injury-prevention methods, and I have also attended several Crossfit competitions in both, the Czech Republic and New Zealand. I have also improved and kept developing my athletic skills within the sports environment, which Crossfit has either pushed me towards to give them a try or it has helped me raise the bar of my own skills and potential.

And why Crossfit? Because it is not just another style of fitness training or another type of sports. It is a philosophy, a lifestyle. Expect the unexpected. Never give up. Practice the humility and honesty. Believe in yourself and your skills. Do not overestimate yourself. Focus on the journey, not the destination. Be consistent. Try the untried, experience new things, push your limits. Keep learning. Listen to and help the others. Find a way, not an excuse. Enjoy yourself, have a good time. Be better than you were yesterday. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

CrossFit changed
many lives.
